Week 12 Mental Run-Through

“I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy”

There is a saying in running that the body will break down before the mind ever will. Meaning, that as long as you have the mental fortitude your legs can carry you provided that the operator is up for the journey. This past weekend, I took this idea for a test drive as I achieved a year-long goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

Running 26.2 miles is, in itself, a challenge. When you mix in freezing cold temperatures, a break in training and an anemic athlete, the feet is that much more difficult. However, I knew, without a doubt that rain or shine, heat wave or blizzard, I had already achieved my goal. The principles of tapping into the Universal Mind and last week’s lesson of believing as if you already possessed what you desire, guaranteed that this victory was already won. I had played it out in my head, heart and soul before I even started the training. So, when my right calf started to cramp sending shockwaves of pain through my nerves. . .my mental shield intercepted it with the prayer that I now recite whenever I need a dose of Universal truth: “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy.”

Qualified 121314

Me, back at my hotel room giving the thumbs up to my run mates that I hit my goal.

Note that I put on Facebook about the day:

QUALIFIED!!! 12-13-14- Has truly been a magical day. Despite, freezing and needing to spend an hour at medical, I crushed my previous 3:51 time at the Huntsville Rocket City Marathon, reaching my goal of qualifying for Boston with a time of 3:36:) Thank you to all the people who encouraged me. This running season has not been easy with Rob away and I really couldn’t do this without your love and support. To my run crew, it was great doing this with you. Felecia and Kim, you were missed, but I felt you in my heart beat, pushing me toward the finish line. As Kim would say-“Love you. Mean it.”‪#‎Grateful‬ ‪#‎picoftheday‬ ‪#‎margaritatime
